Chennai, Campus Lights, and the Day Engineering Became Real

I still remember the first week at SRM IST — new city, new faces, and the quiet pressure of proving I belonged in Computer Science. Starting B.Tech in September 2022 did not feel cinematic at first; it felt like syllabus PDFs and long commutes. But somewhere between the intro labs and late-night cafeteria conversations, I stopped treating college as a checkpoint and started treating it as a workshop. I was not the smartest person in the room, but I was curious enough to stay after class and ask why a loop behaved the way it did. That curiosity became my real syllabus. Chennai gave me humidity, filter coffee, and a pace that keeps you honest. SRM gave me structure — deadlines, teams, presentations, and the first taste of building things that someone other than me might use. I did not have a flagship project yet, but I had intent. I wanted to graduate with more than a degree; I wanted a body of work. Classmates talked about placements from day one; I talked about repos, even before I had many. Looking back, this is where the timeline truly begins — not with a GitHub green square, but with a decision to treat every semester like a season I had to earn. Four years later, that decision still defines how I ship. I joined clubs, survived exams, and slowly learned that consistency beats bursts of motivation. Those early semesters are why I still plan work in seasons — each repo a race weekend, each deadline a lap time I can actually measure.
